Key tax deadlines for Virginians.
Federal and Virginia due dates for calendar-year filers, in one place. Virginia runs on its own calendar — individual returns are due May 1, not April 15.

- Weekends and holidays: when a due date falls on a weekend or legal holiday, it moves to the next business day.
- Extensions: an extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. Tax owed is still due on the original date.
- Calendar-year filers only: fiscal-year businesses and some special situations have different dates.
